Mattia Pavani

Mattia Pavani graduated in Molecular Biology of the Cell from the University of Milan in 2017. He obtained his PhD in 2022 from the University of Galway under the supervision of Dr. Andrea Ciliberto, working in the Quantitative Biology of Cell Division laboratory at IFOM. His doctoral research focused on understanding mechanisms of resistance and tolerance in eukaryotic cells to microtubule-targeting agents that induce microtubule depolymerization. In 2023, Mattia joined the Metabolic Reprogramming in Solid Tumors laboratory led by Dr. Claudio Vernieri at IFOM as a postdoctoral researcher, where he investigated strategies to improve the efficacy of microtubule poisons by modulating cancer metabolism, using models of Triple-Negative Breast Cancer. Throughout his career, he has developed extensive expertise in imaging techniques applied to both yeast and mammalian cell lines, fostering a strong interest in microscopy. Since 2025, he has been a member of the IFOM Advanced Light Microscopy facility, applying advanced imaging technologies to support cancer research.
