The EMBO (European Molecular Biology Organization) has announced the election to EMBO Membership of George Scita, a scientist at IFOM and the University of Milan, for his research excellence in the field of molecular oncology. Also elected were 105 other scientists from 17 European countries and several non-European countries. Five of these were Italian scientists and three of them, including Scita, are at the University of Milan.
The European Molecular Biology Organization is an intergovernmental organization established in 1964 with the aim of promoting research and scientific cooperation in the field of molecular biology. New members are elected annually based on their scientific excellence. With this appointment, George Scita - director of the Mechanisms of Tumor Cell Migration research group at IFOM – joins 1600 Scientists selected by the EMBO from the international scientific community, including 100 working in Italy. Six of these scientists conduct their research at IFOM: Francesco Blasi, Fabrizio d'Adda di Fagagna, Elisabetta Dejana, Pier Paolo Di Fiore, Marco Foiani, Giorgio Scita.
