Junior Group Leader: Cancer Metastasis Research
Are you a dynamic and ambitious scientist ready to make a mark in Cancer Metastasis research?
About us
The AIRC Institute of Molecular Oncology (IFOM) in the vibrant city of Milan, Italy, invites applications for the position of Junior Group Leader. IFOM, was established in 1998 as the first Italian research center dedicated to exploring the molecular mechanisms underlying tumor formation and progression. In 2022, IFOM secured funding to expand its mission, which now includes rapid and effective translation of basic cancer research findings into clinical applications for patients.
Unleash Your Potential
As a Junior Group Leader at IFOM, you will spearhead groundbreaking research, unraveling the intricacies of cancer metastasis. Dive into diverse areas such as cell fate control and plasticity, cancer dissemination, colonization of distant sites, genome evolution, organotropism, hypoxia resistance, dormancy, therapy resistance and immune-evasion, and explore, with the help of our translational teams, the implication of your discoveries for prevention and treatment of malignancies.
World-Class Resources
IFOM provides unparalleled access to cutting-edge core facilities and advanced technologies. Harness the power of single cell genomics, proteomics, metabolomics, imaging, spectral flow cytometry, spatial transcriptomics, (digital) molecular pathology, and mouse and patient-derived tumor models, ensuring your research is at the forefront of conceptual innovation. Take advantage of a unique data set and sample cohorts from IFOM-initiated clinical trials in colorectal and breast cancer.
Collaborative Excellence
Join a dynamic, international scientific community that thrives on interdisciplinary collaboration. Work alongside experts in cancer genetics, genome stability, cell signaling, protein stability, genomics, mechanobiology, and immunology, fostering an environment where groundbreaking ideas flourish.
Real-world Impact
Collaborate closely with basic and data scientists, experimental pathologists and clinical oncologists, contributing to and shaping innovative mechanism-inspired clinical trials. Make a tangible impact on cancer treatment and patient outcomes through your discoveries.
Comprehensive Support
IFOM offers a competitive start-up package and compensation, along with administrative and grants management support. As a member of the AIRC Institute of Molecular Oncology, you'll benefit from networking opportunities, training sessions, mentoring and funding possibilities to fuel your research endeavors.
